Cars with Over 200,000 km: Most Reliable Mid-size and Full-size Pickups

To determine which pickup trucks are the most reliable, the American auto search engine iSeeCars analyzed data on 11.8 million used cars sold in the United States in 2020. The company's experts have determined what percentage of these cars has traveled 200,000+ miles over several years and the cars with the highest percentages were considered the most reliable.
Full-size pickups are more likely to reach 200,000 miles than the average van. Here are the most reliable ones:
1. Toyota Tundra
Toyota is respected around the world as a manufacturer of rugged pickup trucks that can withstand serious use. It's no surprise that its popular full-size Tundra is the most reliable on the list. This car hasn't seen any major changes since 2007 although it's due to be completely redesigned for the 2022 model year. While not as advanced as its competitors, the Tundra outperforms them in long-term reliability and offers more standard features, including forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning and automatic high-beam headlights. The pickup comes with a powerful 5.7-liter V8 engine and can tow up to 10,200 pounds (4.6 tons). Unlike its competitors, it only has one engine option.
-
The price of a new Toyota Tundra ranges from $38,470 to $56,920, and a three-year-old used one’s from $29,998 to $46,660. You can buy a damaged car even cheaper at auto auctions.

2. Chevrolet Silverado 1500
The first American truck on the iSeeCars list is the full-size Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup truck. The Silverado is a workhorse that can tow up to 13,300 pounds (6 tons) and haul up to 2,280 pounds (1 ton). The car comes standard with a 4.3-liter V6 engine, but it also has four other options: a 5.3-liter V8, a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, a 6.2-liter V8 and a 3-liter six-cylinder turbo diesel. The base engine is comfortable for everyday driving, while the V8 and turbocharged options are suitable for heavy-duty use. The Silverado has a spacious interior with the most common features, but the truck isn't as feature-packed as its competitors and therefore has a lower starting price.
-
A new Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ranges from $32,730 to $58,970, and a three-year old used one ranges from $27,189 to $43,406.

3. Ford F-150
Predictably, the Ford F-150, the favorite of the Americas, made it onto the iSeeCars list. The best-selling pickup truck in the United States for more than four decades, it remains as popular as ever due to its versatility and capabilities. Currently, the car comes with six different engines. There are also seven interior trim levels, three bed lengths and three cab styles available. The 150's base engine is a 3.3-liter V6 producing 290 hp and 265 lb-ft (359 Nm) of torque; the most powerful option is a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 with an electric motor producing 430 hp and 570 lb-ft (772 Nm) of torque. It can tow up to 14,000 pounds (6.3 tons), making it the most powerful towing vehicle in its class.
-
A new Ford F-150 ranges from $32,986 to $68,973, and a three-year used one ranges from $26,999 to $52,893.

4. Nissan Titan

5. GMC Sierra 1500
The GMC Sierra 1500 is the fifth longest-lasting full-size pickup truck. Although its mileage numbers are slightly below average, it is still reliable. The Sierra shares its platform with the second-place Silverado 1500 but is a more upscale vehicle. The manufacturer offers the same choice of engines for it as for the Silverado, however, quality materials used in the exterior give the GMS Sierra a more premium feel. There are also special trims, like the top-of-the-line Denali, which comes loaded with high-tech features like wireless phone charging, parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and an upgraded infotainment system.
-
A new GMC Sierra ranges from $40,853 to $68,878. A three-year-old used GMC Sierra 1500 ranges from $29,498 to $48,614.

6. Ram 1500 Pickup
The full-size Ram 1500 Pickup completes the list of the most reliable full-size trucks. It doesn't quite meet long-term reliability standards, but that likely reflects the Ram's superior position in the market, similar to the GMC Sierra, in other words, it just doesn't get as many miles as its "working class" counterparts in the few years considered here.
In fact, the Ram is more luxurious than the Ford and Chevy. The designers instilled a style in it: the interior is filled with all sorts of extras and high-end features, the interior materials are of premium quality. In the top tier options, the driver will be able to appreciate all the advantages of a luxury car combined with the capabilities of a pickup truck.
In 2021, the manufacturer added a high-performance 702 hp TRX package. The same supercharged V8s can be found in the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger. Other engine options include base V6 with 305 hp, diesel V6 with 260 hp. and two 395 hp V8s, one of which is a mild hybrid. The towing capacity of the vehicle ranges from 6,250 to 12,750 pounds (2.8 - 5.7 tons), which is quite on par with other semi-truck pickups.
-
A new Ram 1500 ranges from $36,581 to $66,062, while a used one ranges from $23,898 to $39,997.

Three midsize pickups have earned the distinction of being called the most reliable pickups in their class.
1. Honda Ridgeline
Honda pickup trucks have long been known for their reliability. Its unibody design makes it as easy to drive as an SUV. At the same time, the vehicle provides greater fuel efficiency than a standard body-on-frame pickup truck.
While the Ridgeline doesn't tow as often as its frame competitors, it outperforms them in passenger comfort. The car also has a unique dual-action tailgate that can be lowered like a standard tailgate or opened to the side for easier loading.
The Ridgeline V6 gets 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, which is slightly above average.
If you want a reliable, comfortable pickup truck and don't need heavy towing (over 5,000 pounds, or 2.2 tons), the Honda Ridgeline is a great choice.
-
A new Honda Ridgeline ranges from $34,611 to $44,619, while a three-year used one ranges from $25,995 to $36,069.
iSeeCars Reliability Rate: 8.2
2. Toyota Tacoma
The Toyota Tacoma is the second most reliable midsize pickup truck. The car is available in numerous configurations; it provides a comfortable ride, which will be especially appreciated by those who have to spend a lot of time behind the wheel. It can carry loads of up to 6,800 pounds (3 tons). A 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine comes standard while more expensive options are equipped with a more powerful 4.0-liter V6.
The Tacoma is more affordable than the Honda Ridgeline and doesn't have as many standard features but this car is an excellent choice for those who often drive over rough terrain.
-
A new Toyota Tacoma ranges from $28,173 to $45,412, while a three-year-old used one ranges from $24,689 to $38,995.
iSeeCars Reliability Rate: 8.0
3. Jeep Gladiator
The Gladiator debuted in the 2020 model year and didn't have enough miles to qualify for the reliability rating. It's a bold, body-on-frame pickup that shares many similarities with the Jeep Wrangler and full-size Ram 1500. The Gladiator is the only convertible pickup in the segment with a soft top from American manufacturer Haartz. The car is suitable for those outdoor enthusiasts who simultaneously need the legendary off-road capabilities of a Jeep and the capabilities of a pickup truck.
-
A new Jeep Gladiator costs between $33,565 and $51,520, while a used one costs an average of $53,954.

iSeeCars also identified the most reliable heavy-duty pickup trucks (without specifying price or reliability index).
Ram 3500 Pickup
The Ram Pickup 3500 is the most reliable pickup truck for tough driving conditions. A powerful 6.4-liter gasoline engine is standard, but an upgraded Cummins turbodiesel engine with up to 1,075 lb (1,457 Nm) of torque is also a popular option. This monster can tow a whopping 37,000 pounds (16.7 tons).
Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD
Chevrolet takes second place on the list of reliable heavy-duty pickup trucks with its Silverado 2500. The high percentage of high-mileage 2500s noted by iSeeCars can be (at least in part) due to the Duramax diesel engine found in this heavy-duty truck. Like the Cummins, the Duramax is an expensive upgrade, but truck buyers respect it for its durability and power.
Ford F-350 Super Duty
In third place on the list of the American search engine is the Ford F-350 Super Duty. Since Ram has Cummins and Chevy has Duramax, Ford equipped its mighty truck with a heavy-duty PowerStroke diesel. Like the other engines mentioned on the list, this one has a reputation for durability and can tow over 30,000 pounds (13.6 tons). iSeeCars ranked the Super Duty third on their list of heavyweights.
It's worth noting that compact pickups such as the Nissan Frontier, Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon and Ford Ranger did not make the iSeeCars' reliable list. First of all, because they don’t get the same mileage in a couple of years as full-size pickups.
