If you're thinking about buying a used Tesla in the US, don't rush to buy the first one you like — this model may be cheaper in a neighboring state. Experts compared prices for used Tesla EVs by model, city, and state, and determined where to find them at the lowest price.
iSeeCars analyzed more than 16,000 used Tesla cars for sale in October 2023. The cars were between one and three years old. They calculated the average price of each model in each state and city and compared it to the national average price for that model.

Tesla Model 3
The car was advertised as a Tesla affordable for drivers who feel that Model S and Model X are overpriced.
The base Model 3 has an EPA estimated range of 340 km; the vehicle comes with an on-board charger compatible with a 115-volt outlet. The Long Range Model 3 is EPA-certified and has a range of just over 500 kilometers.
West Palm Beach has the cheapest used Tesla Model 3s on our list with an average price of $36,259, followed by Cleveland with an average price of $36,526.

Launched in 2020, the Model Y is a battery-powered compact crossover that complements the Tesla family of vehicles. In the Long Range trim, it offers up to 490 EPA estimated kilometers of range. The average price of a used car is $45,427.

Tesla Model S
The Model S's quick acceleration and 650-kilometer range are impressive, but that performance comes with a hefty price tag, making the Model S one of the most expensive Teslas on the market. The average price of a used Tesla Model S 1-3 years old is $74,791.
Washington, D.C. has the cheapest used Model S’s, with an average price of $67,729. That's $7,062 less than the national average. Maryland has the best prices for Model S, with an average of $68,583.

Tesla Model X
The Model X was released in 2016 and is Tesla's first crossover SUV. Thanks to its high performance and available upgrades, this car is the most expensive in the Tesla lineup.
Elon Musk, the company's co-founder and CEO, says there's a good reason for this. “The Model X is an extremely complex car to build,” he tweeted.
The base version provides an EPA-estimated range of 560 km, while the Plaid trim offers a range of 535 km.
The average price of a used Tesla Model X in the US is $80,402. The best prices for a Model X are in Washington, DC where they are $7,440 below the national average.
