Best US States to Find a Good and Inexpensive Truck

Best US States to Find a Good and Inexpensive Truck

Americans love pickup trucks. But some states love them more than others. So where in the US can you find a better selection of these vehicles? The authoritative American automotive search engine iSeeCars.com knows the answer to this question.

In recent years, trucks have been growing in popularity due to their improved capabilities and versatility.

They were once considered unpretentious workhorses for farmers and construction workers, but modern trucks are far from that image.

Today, respectable family trucks are not uncommon on American highways - with interior finish to match expensive SUVs and only slightly inferior to passenger cars in terms of safety. At the same time, they have much higher functionality. Pickup trucks are not afraid to go off-road; they can transport both people and heavy loads. And finally, they have ceased to be gas guzzlers, as fuel efficient hybrid and electric versions of these cars have come out.

Pickup Truck Distribution

Today, pickup trucks make up 16.5% of all vehicles on American roads, reports iSeeCars.com. But in some states there are twice as many of them, or even more. Accordingly, their trade is livelier and there is a wider selection of cars at a reasonable price.

The top ten states with the largest share of trucks include northern and mountain states.

  • Wyoming is the state with most trucks - 2.2 times above the national average. And there is an easy explanation for this. “The Cowboy State” is a vast area with numerous dirt and mountain roads, rugged terrain and harsh weather conditions that require off-road and heavy-duty vehicles.

  • Although Texas ranks only 19th in the country in overall share of pickup trucks on the road, it is the leader in overall numbers.

  • New Jersey has the fewest pickups - only 7.9%, which is more than 2 times below the national average.

  • The bottom ten with the smallest share of trucks consists almost entirely of coastal states. Only Illinois, where many car manufacturers are located, stands out from the overall picture.
