ADESA Auctions: on the brink of change

ADESA is an online car auction service that offers professional car traders and car dealers more than 3,000 vehicles daily.

New owners’ plans

Not so long ago (Spring 2022), ADESA auction business was bought out from KAR Global by the used car buying and selling e-commerce brand Carvana, for $2.2 billion. At the time, ADESA has been employing 11,000 people at over 75 auction sites and corporate offices across North America. 

The new owners of the enterprise have ambitious plans to expand the operation. "Car selection will become even wider and delivery times will decrease," Carvana management said.  Something has already been improved: ADESA Marketplace was updated in May 2022. It's a mobile app that provides access to ADESA Simulcast, a new way to partake in "live" sales at all ADESA auctions in the U.S. and Canada. 

Bidding and buying with ADESA Simulcast has become easier and faster, with transactions now available 24/7. You can search for cars at auction sites (“Vehicle Location” feature), quickly access vehicle history reports by scanned VIN number, view photo vehicle condition reports, create watchlists to keep track of cars at auction, and much more.

Other than that, everything’s basically the same at ADESA auctions: there are still undamaged cars, vans, light trucks, as well as damaged vehicles. Usually, the vehicles make their way to auction from the garages of the largest leasing companies, car rental companies, and car fleets.

ADESA’s major pros

One of the main pros of ADESA auctions is the completion in the shortest terms, latest sales tools and advanced processing of the information, opportunity to do business with wider (international) public.

Columbus specialists suggest that you look for undamaged vehicles at ADESA auctions, no older than 5 years, with mileage starting from 100,000 miles.

Moreover, not only is it possible to buy a car at the auction site, but also to hire a mechanic to inspect your car before buying it; minor body repairs, tire, wheel and glass replacements are also on offer. 

There are three ways of finding a desired vehicle at an auction website:

1. Quick search.

Simply select a few criteria you are looking for, click "Search" and explore the results.

2.   Advanced search.

Click "Find Cars," enter make, model, fuel type, price range, etc. If you save your search filter, you will be notified via email as soon as a matching vehicle appears in the database. Go to "Customer Account" and keep the notifications turned on.

3. Auction overview.

Go to “Auctions” page. Customize the filters on the left side of the page so you can quickly and with ease find the vehicle you are interested in.
